Interview With The New Skipper!

You have now been appointed captain of the First XI  in succession to Jon Finch.  Is it a job you have always wanted to do and if so why?

There have always been great captains in place and they have usually had a vice captain in training ready to take over at their departure and so its not something I have thought a great deal about in the past.  The opportunity has come about and its an honour to be Club Captain! The recent captains have taken the club to the next level and there is a lot of expectancy, I will give it my all to build from the fantastic base that they have built.

What if anything do you plan to change and how do you plan to go about the job in hand?

There will be no drastic changes to the team or our approach.  I will try to motivate the team on and off the field and will expect 100% off the players every time they take to the field.  If we enjoy our cricket and players fulfill their potential then Im sure we will start winning more.

What are your own personal goals for this season?  Do you set yourself targets?  What targets if any are you planning to set for the other players?

I think if you are a batting in the top five or six regularly then you have to aim to score 500 runs in a season. I may chat to some players at times to discuss goals but each player in the team I’m sure will have there own targets and goals to work towards.

What are your hopes for the remainder of the season?

My HOPES would be to win all remaining games and win the league!!!

What are your expectations for the remainder of the season?

My EXPECTATIONS are for us to work hard, start to enjoy cricket, string a few wins together as a team and see where we are in 10 games time.

What are your hopes long term for yourself and for Lowerhouse Cricket Club?

My hope for Lowerhouse Cricket Club long term is for all teams to keep improving on the field and to bring home lots of silverware. For the Club to continue to develop facilities in and out of cricket and continue to improve in all possible areas.
