Matt Walker Joins Bradford & Bingley CC as Finch Returns

Lowerhouse CC all rounder Matt Walker has joined Bradford Premier League cricket side Bradford & Bingley as a amateur for 2016.

Walker who is one of many to come through the Lowerhouse junior ranks last year joined the exclusive Lancashire League amateur double club achieving over 50 wickets and 500 runs in the season.

Matt has chosen to join Bradford & Bingley as they offer a player pathway to county cricket with both Yorkshire and Durham County Cricket Clubs.

Cricket chairman Stan Heaton commented “we have known of Matt’s intentions for some time and we are sorry to see him leave but fully understand his reasons in wanting to put himself in the county cricket shop window with Bradford & Bingley’s player pathway to Yorkshire and Durham. There are right and wrong reasons for leaving and an opportunity for personal advancement is one we would always support”.

In a one in and one out move, Lowerhouse will see the return of our other recent achiever of the amateur double, Jon Finch. Jon returns after a couple of seasons where his ECB work commitments have been restrictive to his own playing.

So far in a busy winter House have seen the return of Ben Heap, Joe Hawke and Jon Finch to the club but lost Jonny Whitehead as pro to Woodbank, Matt Walker as amateur to Bradford and Bingley and Fergus and Declan Bailey to Whalley.

The club hope to have news of an exciting new pro signing later in the week as we build up to the 2016 season.
