Obituary – Trevor Gorton

We are once again saddened to hear of another passing – former player and long-time friend of the club, Trevor Gorton.

Trevor (62) played for the club from his junior days in the late 1960s, through the 2XI and to 1981 where he made his 1XI debut. Trevor was predominantly a 2XI opening bowler and had the distinction of taking 9 wickets in a match.

In his time in the 1XI Trevor made a crucial contribution in the win over Todmorden at Lowerhouse. Mohsin Khan, the Todmorden Pakistan test playing professional was giving us a master class in how to bat when he made the mistake of trying to take a 2 to Trevor and was promptly run out. The game was won with this single piece of fielding.

Lowerhouse CC sends its deepest sympathy to wife Linda and family.

The funeral will be held at Burnley Crematorium at 10am on Friday January 6th.
