Hasan Shines Again In Comfortable Win!

Posted under Club Chat

On Saturday we registered our sixth successive league win this time at the expense of East Lancs. Hasan Khan was again the star of the show with the bat following  a superb knock 64 in our 196-6.  Hasan  received  solid support from veteran Chris Bleazard (38),  stumper Jack McGregor (28), Will Driver (17) and the pro (15). Pick of the vistors bowlers was Sub professional Zeeshan Pervez who collected 4-88 from an unbroken 25 over spell.

East Lancs were then dismissed for 103 with wickets being shared out between the bowlers.  Will Driver picked up 3-24, Paddy Martin took his first senior wickets with 3-25, Joe Hawke collected 2-24 and Drew 2-25 to take the lads  into 5th place in the league table. Andy Caunce top scored with 18 for the visitors.

The updated league table can be seen below.  Let’s hope our progress up the league can continue as we entertain Nelson at home next Sunday.

Posted under Club Chat

It’s another Saturday home game for Lowerhouse as we entertain East Lancs at Liverpool Road this coming weekend.

House are without Chris Benbow, Jon Finch and Jonny Russell who are replaced by Scott Hope, Paddy Martin and Matthew Marquis.

East Lancs who sit 8th in the league table have suffered a double blow with the news that impressive professional Shannan Stewart has returned to New Zealand to undergo treatment on a persistent groin problem. Stewart has yet to be replaced and at the time of going to press no sub professional had been named.  Opening bowler, Nas Iqbal has also left to take up the role as pro at Ribblesdale League outfit, Blackburn Northern.

Veteran batsmen Dave Pearson leads the way with the bat having scored 177 runs at 22.12 with a best of 43.  With the ball, 22 year old paceman Sid Patel has captured 15 wickets at 25.2 with a best of 6-56.

On Sunday the 2nd XI are in cup action with a semi final against Nelson at Liverpool Road.  Please come along and support the 2s as they look to build on last seasons runners up spot in the junior league!

Up to 5th with 7 from Finch!

Posted under Club Chat

Jonathan Finch was the star of the show as House recorded their 5th consecutive league win with another victory over Colne at Liverpool Road.  Finchy took 7-45 to bowl the lads to a 62 run win over struggling Colne.

House batted first, amassing 212-7 with the doc, Stuart Grant completing a quick fire half century in just 34 balls with 6 fours and a six. Granty added an unbroken 37 for the 8th wicket with Joe Hawke (10*). The inform Hassan Khan again made 48 and there were further contributions from Finch (27) and Jack McGregor (21). Matt Walker was the pick of Colne’s bolwers collecting 3-50.

The pro quickly removed Aron Pollard and Justin Nutter with Joe Hawke dismissing Colne paid man Blake Snijman caught and bolwed to put House well on top. Enter Jon Finch, wickets fell at regular intervals as Colne were dismissed for 150. Ryan Procter made 56, with Chris Holt and Walker both hitting 20, with Walker unbeaten.

The lads will be looking to continue their recent progress up the league as they entertain bottom placed Colne this coming Sunday.

Colne have had a difficult start to what is really a transitional season for them having altered their playing staff significantly from last season.  Their Skipper this season  is top order batsman Matt Wilson but they have lost Sean and Stuart Lemon, Jeff Ellis and former Lowerhouse all-rounder Qasim Ali who is of course now captain at Burnley.

A relatively young side Colne will be hoping to move away from the bottom of the table and gain revenge for defeats at the hands of Lowerhouse in both the league and cup already this season. Colne have brought in a former team mate of Will Driver having signed off spinning all-rounder Chris Holt from Read.

Colne’s pro is South African Blake Snijman. Snijman is an opening batsmen for Lions back in South Africa and in first class cricket he has 2147 runs at 30.67 and 15 wickets at 24.93. To date this season he has scored 210 league runs at 23.33 with a seasons best of 78.  That does not tell the whole story though as Snijman also scored a magical 103 in our cup victory over Colne.  With the ball his right arm medium pace has captured 22 wickets at 18.18 with a best of 6-28.
