Brendan Stars In House Victory!

Posted under Club Chat

The lads kept their outside title challengeon track by beating Bacup by 26 runs at Liverpool Road. House posted 164 -8 including half centuries from the Pro (59) and Hasan who made his second half century of the weekend in scoring 52. Andrew Spencer collected 4-93 and professional Chris Harris 3-39 for Bacup.

House’ total looked a good score on a sticky wicket at so it proved.  The Pro tore through the Bacup top order, reducing the visitors to 73-8 with only New Zealander Harris offering any resistance.  Harris found allies in John Chapman (12) and Peter Fell (2) as the last 2 wickets added 28 and 37 to keep things interesting. However, Finchy trapped Peter Fell LBW to seal 12 points for House. Harris finished unbeaten on 76 but the real star was the pro who claimed a seasons best figures of 7-47 to retain 4th place in the league.

Khan & Finch Star in Victory At Hassy!

Posted under Club Chat

House secured an important victory at Haslingden following fine performances from Hasan Khan and Jon Finch. In a game reduced to the minimum 25 overs Lowerhouse posted 164-5 with Hasan hitting 75 from 79 balls having been promoted up the order in place of Will Driver.  Jon Finch made 30 and the pro 24 in difficult conditions.  Steve Dearden (3-76) and professional David Bandy (2-86) bowled unchanged for Haslingden.

In reply Haslingden posted 148-9 with Pro David Bandy continuing his own recent form top scoring with 54 from 45 balls.  Bandy was dismissed caught in the deep by Hasan and that proved to be critical as Haslingden fell 16 runs short. Ex-skipper Finch, took 6-68, to tear through the Haslingden middle order after they had got off to a flyer with Bandy and the big hitting John Pemberton sharing 53 for the 1st wicket.
