Jason Krejza Signs!!!

Posted under Club Chat

Lowerhouse Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Jason Krejza will be replacing Damien Wright as Lowerhouse professional for the 2009 season.

26 year-old Jason is a right hand bat and right-arm off break bowler who plays for Tasmania.  He has played in two Test Matches for Australia and is one of a few bowlers who have taken eight or more wickets in an innings on test debut. Only Bob Massie has had better figures for the Australians on debut. He averages 23 with the bat in first class cricket and has taken 67 wickets.

Jason has experience of playing in the UK with spells at Leicestershire in the County Championship and with club side Greenock in Scotland.

Cricket Chairman Stan Heaton says, “We were very disappointed when Damien had to pull out of his agreement to be our professional but we feel that Jason will be an exciting replacement. He will complement our pace and seam attack and be of great assistance to the developing Patrick Martin. He is a genuine all-rounder and will be a huge influence on all the players individually and the team. He is a very extrovert character and will be hugely popular at the club’.

Jason’s arrival date has still to be determined due to the lateness of the signing and the lengthy processes that have to be undertaken before overseas players are permitted to perform in the UK.

Wright is a No Go!!!

Posted under Club Chat

The club are disappointed to announce that Damien Wright will not be coming to Lowerhouse as the 2009 professional.

Damien  has been carrying a slight ankle injury for a few matches that has required injections before playing. Victoria coach Greg Shippard is insisting that Damien rests in their close season in readiness for the 2009/2010 Australian season.

Cricket Chairman Stan Heaton says, “We are hugely disappointed that Damien will not be coming. He would have been a perfect professional to help our young but talented side. We were keen to obtain the services of a quality experienced fast bowling all-rounder and we will now begin again our search for a suitable replacement”.
