Donations

The club has received a donation from Ray Bradley to cover the costs of the posters for the LCB final. Thanks very much Raymond for your continued support.

Following on from the heavy treatment from a muddy bonfire night, supporter Paul Grace has given the clubroom carpet a professional clean via his company Burnley Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning 07976208694. We are grateful to Paul and are more than happy to recommend his services.

Thanks

Thanks to all those who gave up their night to unpack and assemble the new furniture. Highlight of the evening was when Jim Heaton was shown the sample for the new carpet and when asked what he thought of it replied “It doesn’t look big enough”.

Former junior and second eleven cricketer John “Willie“ Wilkinson was at Joe Waterworth’s funeral and kindly donated a copy of the 1914 Club Bazaar programme for the Heritage Collection. The programme contained as history of the club which has been reproduced on this website previously by Anne Cochrane.

Hoping that this may be a portent for next season, we reproduce the scorecard from a friendly against Rochdale. You can see the PDF here

A jaw-dropping revelation from the funeral was the discovery that Clifford Atherton was a former organist at Habergham Church. Clifford apparently had to curtail his career when the vicar objected to him playing in the somewhat flamboyant style of Johan Strauss.

Brewery Trip

The club have been afforded the benefit of a trip to JW Lees Brewery next Tuesday December 19th. It is proposed to travel to the brewery around 6.15 to arrive for 7pm. Although there will be a charge for the coach; the food and drink will be laid on by the brewery. Places are strictly limited and we would ask that only club member/supporters who use the club bar apply for a place as this is a sampling trip.

Requests to attend should be texted to Stan Heaton on 07941439741 ASAP please.
