The lovely sun and two wins!

Lowerhouse progressed into the Quarter Finals of the Worsley Cup after beating Church away on Saturday.

Lowerhouse beat Church by 28 runs at West End. Francois Haasbroek hit an unbeaten century to help Lowerhouse make 258-5. Haasbroek hit nine fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 102, adding 121 with professional Ockert Erasmus for the 3rd wicket after the loss of skipper Ben Heap (8) at 13 and Jon Finch (14) at 45. Lowerhouse were 64-2 at the halfway point. Erasmus hit seven fours and a six in hitting 77 from 88 balls before being one of three victims for returning wicketkeeper Sam Tucker. Chris Bleazard also hit an unbeaten 17 at the end of the innings. Finch took 3-27 to help restrict Church to 230 all out. Skipper Levi Wolfenden (53) and professional Johnny Riekert (50) hit half centuries, Sam Holt made 39, Joel Gaskill an unbeaten 38 and Francis Kinsella 15.

On Sunday, the lads soundly beat Bacup, away in the sunshine. Contrary to what he put on social media, Adam got it wrong and Joe Hawke didn’t reach 200 wickets with his 4 yesterday, he’s on 199. (Sorry Joe, but at least you can celebrate again right?)

The first game to finish was at Bacup where Lowerhouse secured an 8 wicket win. Joe Hawke took 4-21, professional Ockert Erasmus 3-26 and Francois Haasbroek 2-34 to dismiss Bacup for 103. Bacup professional Ernest Kemm made 35, Matt Collinge 19 and skipper Tim Farragher 12. Skipper Ben Heap hit 61 from 51 balls with nine fours and two sixes and Jon Finch 20 in an opening stand of 72
