Weekend Preview-1st & 2nd Sept 07

After last weeks derby defeat at the hands of Burnley Lowerhouse return to action on Saturday in a re-arranged fixture against Enfield at Liverpool Road.

The two sides clashed last week at Dill Hall Lane with House running out winners by just 1 run in a thrilling contest.

At the time of going to press the Lowerhouse team news was unavailable, save to say Jonny Russell, Chris Benbow, Chris Bleazard and Joe Hawke are all absent.

Enfield will be buoyed by their win in the 20/20 trophy at Haslingden  on Bank Holiday Monday where they came out victorious by 20 runs in what was a low scoring affair.

Enfield bastmen Adam Bracewell who has 401 runs and Craig Fergusson who has 347 runs will be hoping to finish the season strongly and pass 500.

Bernard Reidy used last weekend to notch up 50 wickets for the season.  He currently stands on 53 wickets at 12.64.

On Sunday Lowerhouse travel to Bacup Road to take on current form team Rawtenstall.  After a shaky start Rawtenstall are finishing strongly largely thanks to the exploits of professional, Sanjay Bangar.  They sit in second place, 7 points behind league leaders Rishton although if results go their way they could be league leaders come Saturday evening.

Bangar who has represented India in both Test and One Day cricket has scored 630 runs in 16 innings at 57.27 with a best score of 83 not out.  His bowling which is described as medium pace has reaped 48 wickets at 19.41 with a best of 6-33.

On the amateur front their batting averages are lead by Chris Cook-Martin who has 566 runs at 28.30 and a best score of 108.

The leading amateur bowler at Rawtenstall is veteran, Keith Roscoe.  “Kez” who is one of the leagues all time leading wicket takers has taken 50 wickets at 16.60 with a seasons best of 6-50.

In the 2’s, House have just one game, at home to Rawtenstall on Sunday.  Paul Stansfield’s men will be hoping that they can secure runners up position although Rawtenstall who were themselves challenging until very recently, invariably provide a stern test.

On the House!!
