Weekend Preview & Teams 19th & 20th July 08

It’s another double header with a trip to Haslingden on Saturday and an home encounter against Bacup on Sunday.

Saturday sees a quick opportunity to avenge last weekends defeat at the hands of in-form Haslingden.  On Sunday Haslingden added to their win at Liverpool Road by comprehensively beating early pace setters Rawtenstall at Bent Gate.  David Bandy and Steve Dearden were again in the runs with the latter recording an unbeaten century.

On Sunday we entertain Bacup who currently sit 11th in the league table having recorded 4 wins and 9 defeats from their 13 matches to date.  Last week they beat Ramsbottom in a remarkable game at Acre Bottom.  Requiring 15 to win from 3 balls, pro Chris Harris bludgeoned 3 sixes to see them to victory! This capped a memorable day for Harris having earlier recorded excellent bowling figures of 9-23 on his old stomping ground. Bacup’s pro for 2008 needs to introduction to league and international cricket followers.  New Zealand Legend Chris Harris is a veteran of 250 one day internationals for his country amassing 4,379 runs and taking 203 wickets in the process.  In the league he first represented Ramsbottom and in 1995 became just the fourth man to achieve the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets.  Last season, which was his first with Bacup saw him score 801 runs at 61.6 and take 82 wickets. To date this season he has 237 runs from 12 innings at an average of 21.54 and 53 wickets at 12.35 including a best of 9-23 which was recorded in last weekends win at Ramsbottom.

Amateur wise Dave Warren leads the way with 10 league wickets at 25s and Paul Gallagher has recorded 202 runs at 16.83 with a seasons best of 52.
