13 from 13 and a shiny new Trophy!

After the game House skipper Charlie Cottam was presented with the Lancashire League Championship Trophy by Mike Bibby and the celebrations began.  See the champions page for photo’s and video footage of events.

House beat their nearest rivals Accrington by 61 runs. On a lively deck House posted 164-9. Jon Finch top scored with 38, including two sixes and two fours, sub professional Anwar Ali made 25, Ben Heap 20, Chris Bleazard 16*, Paddy Martin 14 and Joe Martin 12. David Ormerod recorded figures of 5-92,  newly wed Accy pro Ashar Zaidi took 3-48.

Sub pro Anwar Ali was soon amongst the wickets bowling with surprising pace considering the wet conditions.  He removed Andy Greenwood (5) and Stuart Crabtree (0) before Finchy removed Simon Hanson (11) and Mitch Taylor (1). Ali bowled excellently at Zaidi who felt the pressure eventually lobbing Finch to Ali at mid wicket after scoring 18. Ali later sent back Matt Wilson (1) and Bryn Hargreaves (0) after Fergus Bailey had snaredGraeme Sneddon (3). Lloyd was ninth wicket to fall with 82 on the board. Dave Ormerod provided some late fireworks but the party wasn’t delayed for too long with Joe Beneduce to wrapping up the innings by bowling Jimmy Hayhurst with the score on 103. Ali took 4-24 and Finch 3-24.

The Lowerhouse players left the field to a guard of honour from second placed Accy with both the Championship trophy and Holland Cup being presented on the decking in front of a healthy crowd.
