The Lowerhouse A team captain Brian Higgin is receiving his memento from Mr. McNee with other members of the side looking on. Mr. V. Astin, team manager and the club’s representative on the Lancashire A teams League committee, is on the extreme left.

Presentation night at Lowerhouse CC included the awarding of a memento to one of the senior players, Wally Garnett who, making one of his now rare first team appearance had achieved a hat trick at the West End ground on May 30th 1970, against Nelson. The special award, a mounted ball, was presented on behalf of the club by Mr. Keith McNee, sports editor of the Burnley Express, who also handed to the A team the plaques donated by Mr. Frank Higginson to commemorate reaching the final of the Lancashire A teams League. Mr. McNee also presented the trophy donated by Mr. Jack Hayes (vice-chairman) for the best individual performance to Clive Chell and Mrs. Astin’s award for fielding to David Sheridan.

The local president’s award donated and presented by Mr. W. E. Rockliffe for the best all round player will be shared by Philip Astin and Neil Hodgson.
