1970: New Years Do

A convivial moment in the clubroom with some of the players and guests as they await the New Year.

Lowerhouse CC players, wives and friends saw in the New Year with a social and dance at the clubroom when about 100 attended. It was one of a succession of winter efforts, organised as part of a general drive to ensure another profit for 1971. Last year the club made £616 on the season and the 1969 figure was £880. So far three functions have totalled about £100, and last week’s get-together will realise about £30. Mr Jack Hayes, vice-chairman of the club, officiated as M.C. A folk group and old style event has been arranged for Saturday. Players include front row right Gordon Jones, next to him Jack Stott and behind Jack, Mick Swift with a glass in hand, and behind him Ian Wrigley.
