1s make it 3 in 3 and 3s walk it – Weekend Roundup

On Saturday the Fourth Eleven managed to dodge the weekends rain at Walsden but ended up finishing second. Walsden won the toss and batted first, making 145/8 from their 40 overs. Shaukat Ali took 3 wickets, with four other bowlers taking 1. In reply House lost wickets at regular intervals with Lewis Clarke top scoring with 20. We finished 17 short, on 128 for 9 off our 40.

The Second team lost out to the weather on Sunday – no result at Norden taking 5 points each.

The First Eleven are now the only team in the league to win 3 in 3! Dodging the rain in a 24 over side against Norden, House won with 7 balls to spare. LancashireLeague.com said:

Lowerhouse took advantage of another wet Sunday to go top after beating Norden in the only match to finish in Division 1. In a 24 overs aside game at The Brooks Foundation Ground, Lowerhouse sub professional Pretorius took 4-37 with Alex Willis (36), skipper Greg Butterworth (33) and Jozef Gordon (22 not out) in the runs for Norden who closed on 122-7. Skipper Greg Butterworth accounted for his opposite number Ben Heap (39) and Francois Haasbroek (13) with Ashar Zaidi sending back veterans Charlie Cottam (1) and Chris Bleazard (2). Pretorius hit an unbeaten 39 from 40 balls and Tom Walker hit an unbeaten 21 in an unbroken 5th wicket stand of 46 to see Lowerhouse to a 6 wicket win 13 balls to spare.

On Monday, Robbo’s 3rd team romped home with another win in the Dec Metcalfe show. Dec took a hatrick and 5 wickets bowling Walsden out for 74 in their own back yard. In reply, House knocked them off 4 down in 25 overs with Dec top scoring unbeaten on 21
