2014 Managers and Captains

Lowerhouse CC have announced their captains for the 2014 season and some management changes.

Cricket chairman Stan Heaton said

“We are very pleased to announce that Charlie Cottam will again lead the first eleven . Scott Hope will take over the 2XI captaincy from Lewis Marsden who will still be in Australia . 17 year old Joe Bayliff will lead the 3XI with Corey Hope standing down due to the club’s policy of not playing established 2XI cricketers in the 3s . John Nicholas will again lead the hugely important 4XI development team. Lewis and Corey have lead their respective sides with great skill and considerable success and we thank them. Their contribution to the on-going development process has been vital.

We also wish to place on record our appreciation to Paul Stansfield and Gavin Shields who have stood down as first and second team managers due to other personal commitments. I think it is a case of all good things come to an end as both lads will not be in a position to devote the same time as they have done previously. It is no coincidence that the club has had as much success as it has whilst the two managers have been in pos . Paul took league cricket management to new levels with his research and specific planning for each match and within each match and has had an incredibly successful tenure. Gavin had the task of balancing junior development whist building a winning mentality often with teams that saw many alterations due to player unavailability. Nevertheless has taken the second team on an upward curve throughout his time. On a personal note I believe that their input will be sorely missed and is probably irreplaceable. Accordingly there are no plans in the pipeline for replacements but we are in good hands with our captains.”
