24 Point Weekend With Two 9 Wicket Wins!

House collected 24 points over the weekend with two comprehensive victories.

On Saturday, young all rounder Fergus Bailey took a career best 6-51 to bowl Church out for 99. Church professional Saeed Anwar top scoring with 41, Adam Greenwood made 21 and Levi Wolfenden 13 but no other batsman could reach double figures as Church collapsed from 96-5 to 99 all out. Rain reduced the House’ target to 84 from 39 overs but it only took 14 to secure maximum points. Ben Heap, who was presented with the July Under 23 Player of the month Award during the interval, put on 68 with Joe Martin before falling to Andy Bentley for 27. The young wicketkeeper finished unbeaten on 32 with professional Francios Haasbroek also still there on 16.

On Sunday we moved 36 points clear at the top of the Lancashire League with a 9 wicket win at Colne. Franky took 5-50 and Fergus Bailey 4-21 as Colne were bowled out for 118. John Lambert top scored with 21, professional Mansoor Amjad hit 20 and Tayyib Jamil 16. Openers Ben Heap and Joe Martin put on exactly 100 before Ben was caught and bowled by Amjad for  46 which included six boundaries. Joe Martin finished unbeaten on 34 with brother Paddy Martin still there on 18 when maximum points were bagged with a second 9 wicket win of the weekend.
