And Now The End Is Near…………

This weekend see’s the final chapter in the 2013 season which once again has been a roller coaster ride for the club.

Saturday LHCC 3rd x1 entertain Rishton 3rds @ The Neville Gee (Recruitment) Ground @ 1.00pm
It’s their final game of the season and they require at least 10 points and then a favour from Haslingden who entertain league leaders Nelson to snatch the title.
5thX1 – Development squad away @ Church in a 30 over game
Sunday Lowerhouse 1st x1 V Todmorden @ 1.00pm Full Bar & Tea Room
House need six points from their final match to secure runners up spot and the Holland Cup.
After three hugely successful seasons it’s farewell time for professional Francois Haasbroek who will be spending the winter in Melbourne before moving to the Netherlands next summer.
Francois is a hugely popular figure with players, supporter’s alike will be missed immensely.
Lowerhouse First Team Manager Paul Stansfield said:
“Can I place on record on behalf of LHCC our thanks to Francois Haasbroek for bringing us the three most successful years in the history of our club.
His influence on the pitch and our players in the time he has been with us is there for all to see and may never be matched.
Franky has been more than just a club professional and is a true friend to everybody who has any affinity to Lowerhouse Cricket Club.
He never gave less than 100 per cent every time he represented LHCC during his time with us and the place will certainly feel different without him next year”
After Sunday’s game it’s Karaoke at Frankie’s request an occasion to say thank-you and goodbye to Frankie
Lowerhouse 2ndX1 are away @ Todmorden and 6 points to secure 3rd place
Sunday Evening after matches completed
As mentioned above its time to say farewell to Francois but it’s also time to draw the curtain on the career of one of Lowerhouse’s most popular players:
Joe Beneduce made his  debut in a derby win V Burnley on 11th June 2000.
On 4th September 2005 he became the first Lowerhouse CC Captain to guide a side to the Championship. In his 1st X1 career he scored over 2000 league and cup runs and taken some 36 cheeky wickets along the way.  I suppose popular is a little bit of an understatement, I’m sure his wit & humour will be missed across the League but Joe has decided the time’s right to call it a day and will enjoy plenty of rounds of early morning golf before joining the ranks of the House Army at most home and away games I’m sure.
It’s likely to get quite emotional down at the House as also calling it a day is Groundsman Peter Tighe.
Curator since 2006 Peter epitomises hard work and will be sorely missed.
Lowerhouse Director’s on behalf of the players and supporter’s  want to thank Joe & Peter  for the commitment they have made to the success of our club both will be sorely missed.
Finally Johnny Whitehead & Joe Hawke are off to Melbourne and Lewis Marsden to Perth this winter so it’s a chance to say farewell to them also
