First Win….still Bottom!

Lowerhouse won for the first time this season on Saturday, beating Ramsbottom by 6 wickets at Acre Bottom.

Some excellent bowling and sharp catching restricted Ramsbottom to 164 all out with skipper Finch 3-41 and pro Drew 2-37 the pick of the Lowerhouse bowlers.  Lou Vincent made (27), Phil Hayes (24) and tailender Toby McLean (31) for the home side.

In reply House made a slow start with Will Driver (4), and Jack McGregor (10) both back in the tent with the score at 33. Professional Brendan Drew entered proceedings and joined skipper Finch taking the score into the 50’s before Finch was dismissed off the bowling of Vincent.  Drew stuck around with Hassan Khan taking the score into the 90’s before Khan was also dismissed off the bowling of Vincent.  Drew hit some huge blows in his maiden league half century for Lowerhouse.  However, Charlie Cottam was the star of the show with a majestic 53 from 33 balls including four fours and two sixes in a 5th wicket stand of 74 that carried the House to victory with 10 overs to spare.
