Friends & Rivals Selected For County

Two of the most promising cricketers from across the Town’s cricketing divide have been given County honours.

Best of friends Joseph Halstead (left) and Tom Lawson have come through the extensive trial system to be selected at their age groups.

Tom (12) represents Burnley CC. and is a medium quick left arm bowler and a stylish batsman. Best mate Joe (11) is a right arm medium pace bowler and an equally stylish batsman with Lowerhouse.

District cricket chairman Stan Heaton said ‘This is a just reward for two lads who love the game and spend hours playing and practicing. Their families are steeped in local cricket and have been very supportive. The fact that they are the best of friends playing for rival clubs makes for some interesting times and should be good to watch in the coming years ‘
