Great Saturday for the House

Strong wins for the First and Second team yesterday versus Accrington.

The second team bowled Accrington out for 58 with whopping figures of 8-17 for JP (more to follow on this game later in the week in Stans sermon)

The first team put in a strong performance with the highest total in a Lancashire League innings without anyone scoring a half century (not through lack of trying as a collection wouldn’t have gone a miss). Paddy Martin tried his best being on 47 on the last ball with a ramp shot down to fine leg, only for it to not reach the boundary and only get 2 ending on a Lancashire League best 49*

Lancashire Leagues match report said:

Lowerhouse created a new record for a Lancashire League highest innings score that doesn’t contain a half century, beating their own record of 269-7 at Colne in 2014 in beating Accrington by 135 runs at The Brooks Foundation Ground. Lowerhouse made 275-6 with Paddy Martin making a league best unbeaten 49 from 66 balls with four fours. Skipper Charlie Cottam’s 48 came from 53 balls and included seven fours. Jon Finch made a run a ball 45 with four fours and two sixes and professional Dieter Klein made 38 from 27 balls with five fours to pass 500 runs for the season. Ben Heap’s 56 ball 35 contained three fours, Joe Halstead made 19 and Chris Bleazard an unbeaten 18. The only man to miss out was Joe Hawke who was run out after being involved in a dropped bat incident. Jacob Clarke took 3-52 and professional Ockert Erasmus 2-57 but Jimmy Hayhurst (0-94 from 14 overs) and Keiren Grimshaw (0-67 from 8 overs) went wicketless. Dominic Stuart removed Accrington skipper Graeme Sneddon before a run had been scored and Klein cleaned up Stuart Crabtree (5) at 16 but Grimshaw and Erasmus put on a rapid 87 with the amateur making 54 from 38 balls with seven fours and a six. Accrington couldn’t match Lowerhouse’s consistency though with Erasmus falling for 25 and only number eleven Ramiz Hussain (13 not out) and number nine Toc Hussain (11) making double figures in Accrington’s 140 all out. Hawke made up for his misadventure with the bat by taking 3-7 from 5 overs, Paddy Martin took 2-7 and Finch 2-25. Curiously Lowerhouse were also the only side to win at home on the day
