Hasan Moves On & Friendly Dates

The following friendlies will take place prior to the season commencing:-

Lytham v Lowerhouse 11/04/09

Lowerhouse v Heaton 18/04/09

Lowerhouse V Sale 19/4/09

Lowerhouse can also announce the departure of Hasan Khan to Sale CC where he will play as the overseas amateur

Cricket manager Stan Heaton paid tribute to Khan’s immense ability and thanked him for his time with the club and added ‘ Hasan is probably in his last season in the country and wanted the opportunity to play with added responsibility. There are also some logistical reasons behind the move. ‘

Chris Benbow is unlikely to play for domestic reasons and Matt Stansfield has retired from 2nd team cricket

Chris Benbow has been a very successful player at the club, helping us to win a major trophy and we are indebted to him for that . He is a hugely popular lad and we look forward to seeing him this summer as he will maintain his links with the club.

Matt Stansfield is the epitome of the ideal club player. He has served the club with great distinction and been a mainstay of the 2nd team for many years. He has been an unselfish player who has only thoughts for the well-being of the club. We hope to persuade him to become involved in the managerial side.

Heaton commented ‘ This is opening up ideal opportunities for our younger first team players to stake a claim in the opening and middle order batting and spin bowling departments. We will clearly miss the experience and talents of those who have left but the youngsters needed this opportunity . We have 2 tight senior squads and a 3rd team bursting with promise. Of course only time will tell how this evolves but the opportunity is now there. ‘
