'House book a quarter final date with Burnley!

A weekend of mixed fortunes for the firsts.

Friday night was called off due to the rain – BUT this enabled us into the next round with a Quarter Final home tie vs East Lancs this Friday (more to follow on this, this week..)

On Saturday we lost to Haslingden away at Bentgate. Lancashireleague.coms match report said:

Championship chasing Lowerhouse‘s title hopes suffered a blow when they lost at Haslingden for the second time in a fortnight this time by 27 runs. Charlie Cottam’s men missed out on the chance to make up ground on the top two champions Burnley and league leaders Ramsbottom whose game was one of two to be abandoned without play. Ironically Lowerhouse collected 3 points the same as their title rivals on another rain affected day. In a 20 over a-side match that began at 4pm, Haslingden made 121-7. Phill Hayes top scored with 34, skipper Alex Coleman made an unbeaten 33 and Lewis McIntosh 13. Paddy Martin regained his place as leading amateur bowler by taking 5-51 to make it 32 victims for the season. A tight opening spell by McIntosh in particular and professional Babar Naeem restricted the visitors to 32-2 from the first 10 overs. Naeem had Joe Halstead caught by Oliver Lord for 3 and Ben Heap was run out for 1. Chris Bleazard joined his professional Dieter Klein at the crease and after a settling in period the runs began to flow with Naeem being hit for three sixes as the partnership realised 41 runs. McIntosh broke the stand by having Bleazard caught behind by Alex Marcroft for 19. Klein followed after hitting Naeem for another straight six being clean bowled soon after for 39. Wickets then fell on a regular basis with Lowerhouse finishing up on 94-8. Naeem took 5-48 and McIntosh 2-39

Sunday saw a home tie againt Ramsbottom in the Lancashire Cup last 16 – a closely fought match saw the first be victors, booking a home quarter final against town rivals Burnley in the last 8 as they beat Bootle in another nail biter – the quarter final will be played on 24th of July at The Brooks.
