House lose out to Rishton in nail biter

The first team lost to Rishton last night in the 3rd Twenty20 of the season.

Rishton won a thriller at Lowerhouse with just one ball to spare. Professional Dieter Klein (41), Ben Heap (31), Joe Hawke (25 not out), skipper Charlie Cottam (17 not out) and Joe Halstead (13) all chipped in to Lowerhouse’s 148-4. Rishton skipper Matt Lambert took 3-33 and spinners Kelly Mall (0-10) and professional Shaun von Berg (1-11) kept a tight reign on the home sides batsmen. Von Berg hit ten fours in making 56, adding 74 with Mo Patel (33) before falling to Paddy Martin (2-18) at 130. Bradley Boddie (23) and Ben Bridson (20) also chipped in but 3 wickets fell to Heap (4-34) on 140. The hero was Matt Leathert who strode in and hit a six and a four from just 2 balls to see Rishton to victory

We are now 1 point behind Accrington in second place in the group.
