The game started promisingly for the youngsters with Haslingden at 20 for 3. 15 unnecessary overs in persistent rain did not help the youngsters cause as centurions English and Ahmed took advantage of the wet ball and slippery conditions. Thankfully sense prevailed and the proceedings were halted

Remarkably this was the second tie in successive years at Nelson. All looked lost at 46 for 6 but the only 2 adults in the team put on a 92 stand. Nelson were joint leaders of the league so this was a wonderful result for morale.

An almost entirely under 15 team battled hard against all the odds. Captain John Nicholas praised the team for batting all the overs and a number of players showed that they should be able to adapt to the senior game
