DISTRICT CRICKET REPORTS

The town’s boys district cricket programme has reached the end of the league stage with the under 11s leading the way.

Under 15s – won 1, lost 1, 2 off

Pendle 210-9 , Burnley 203 all out (Ben Gorton 108)
Blackburn 206-7 Burnley 208-4 (Ben Gorton 93, Matty Thornton (BCC) 64 )
other 2 rained off without starting

Under 13s -won 2 , 2 off

Fylde 71 all out, Burnley 72-2
Hyndburn 163-5 Burnley 165-5 (Joseph Halstead 79)
rained off v Lancaster – and Ribble Valley

Under 11s -won 3 , 1 off

Burnley 182-4 ( Sam Molloy 51*) Blackpool 22 all out
Blackburn 116-8 Burnley 117-1
Burnley 184-1(Max Dawson 50*) Hyndburn 122 all out
Lancaster cancelled – rain

Despite the batting heroics the under 15s are likely to miss out on progressing to the knockout stage because of rained off fixtures. A silver lining has been Ben Gorton’s (LHCC) call up to the Lancashire 15s B squad where he scored 26 v Wales.

The under 13s are sweating on other results to see whether they can progress. The team featured county under 13 Tom Lawson (BCC) and county under 12 Joe Halstead (LHCC).

The under 11s are through to the knockout stage. The team has steam rolled all before it thanks to the run scorers from Burnley CC and the excellent bowling from all the lads from our 3 clubs.

LOWERHOUSE CC MATCH REPORTS

SENIOR RESULTS

Burnley 2XI 178 – all out          LHCC 2XI 174- 9

Scott Hope 4-40                    Ben Gorton 41

Kieran Tighe 2-18                  Rhys Woodworth 22

Ismael Khalil 17

Oli Bayliff 16

The loss of wickets at crucial times prevented Lowerhouse reaching their target against an experienced Burnley side.

Haslingden 2XI 47 – all out        LHCC 2XI 48-4

Jack Edgar 3-5                   Jack Edgar 17

Scott Hope 3-10                  Ben Gorton 10

Matt Marquis 2-15

The game began in a bizarre fashion with a debate about the alignment of the stumps which turned out to be an optical illusion. This was despite the fact that the stumps at Haslingden had to be realigned the previous week. Unfortunately none of the batsmen got to grips with the actual wicket with wickets tumbling regularly as the ball reacted to the wet conditions. The 32 opening stand by the Lowerhouse top scorers proved vital.

Todmorden 2XI 158 all out      LHCC 2XI 159 – 5

                               Dec Bailey 74

                               Phil Haggerty 41*

Very much a game of youth v experience as Todmorden fielded 2 veteran 1XI players in Mark Clayton and Iby Ali. After probably allowing Todmorden to score 30 more than they should, LHCC were I real difficulties until a xxxx stand by the 2 leading scorers saw the team home with 3 overs to go. Surprisingly this was Dec bailey (u17) first second ele4ven 50 but surely many more to come

LHCC 3XI 176 – 7                           Ramsbottom 3XI 177-4

Ismael Khalil 46

Corey Hope 34

Will Norcross 18

Max Humberstone 16

Jimmy Ridehalgh 14

Jamie Woodall 13*

For the first time this season a little disappointment crept in with this performance as dropped catches cost the team dear. A 75 partnership between the 2 leading run scores and others chipping in gave a decent total to defend.

LHCC u17- 122- 5                                      Haslingden 123 -4

Jack Edgar 45*

Josh Lavin 31

Ben Gorton 17

James Ridehalgh 12

Too many 4 balls cost the tem in this rare defeat.

 LHCC U17 92-7                         Enfield 67 all out

Joe Bayliff 27*                            Jamie Woodall 3-7

Dec Bailey 26                                Jack Edgar 3-17

Josh Lavin 13                               Ismaeel Khalil 2-10

Jack Edgar 10

Back to winning ways on a sticky track > Bailey and Bayliff showing the right method in hitting through the ball.

LHCC U15 Barracudas 74-5                                 Salesbury u15 -75 – 0

Danny Simm 34

Hamzah Zaman 16*

In a rain reduced match the 3s took a lashing from the belligerent hitters from Salesbury. Well done to Danny Simm for his top score.

LHCC U15 Barracudas 53-5                                 Accrington u15 -54 – 1

With a largely  under 13 team out the 3s were soundly beaten notably by Accrington 2xi player Liam Smalley who bludgeoned 37 before being bowled out by  Georgia Clough . The youngsters performed well and played proper cricket but age and physique make a big difference .

East Lancs u13 full 94-5                                           LHCC U13 Panthers 85-5

Ryan Starkie 2-17                                                       Joseph Halstead 31*

Charlie Bithell 22*

Dec Stansfield 15

A 4th defeat in 5 for this very talented team who repeatedly continue to score at too slow a pace to win games. Whilst time at the crease is great for the development of the players in the long term this must be balanced by the recognition of the need to score at the required run rate. The penny must drop soon.

Burnley u13 192 – 8                                                             LHCC 13 Lions 301 – 1

Ross Birchall 3-7                                                                   Dec Stansfield 20*

Joe Halstead 16*

Ethan Laraway 15*

Jack Moodie 13*

Harry Wheatcroft 11*

A comprehensive victory against Burnley’s second string I this top division encounter.

Accrington u13 293-2                           LHCC u13 Cougars 227-4

Oscar Coates 15*

Despite the score manager Stan Heaton was satisfied that they type of cricket played was the right type. Only loss of concentration or individual errors contributed to the margin against an A team.

LHCC u11 Bears 295-5                                    Liverpool 281 -8

Thomas Halstead 22                                          Sam Harrison 2-3

Kheiro Chir 12*                                                 George Irvine 2-6                                               Josh Moodie 12

Dylan Du Toit 11*

A 20 over 5 pairs’ friendly with the Liverpool touring team who also played Burnley, Whalley and Clitheroe. Josh Moodie again astonished spectators with a reflex one handed catch to add to his growing list of astounding catches this season.

Clitheroe u11 cup team 240-3                                               LHCC u11 Bears 286-1

Tom Halstead 3-10                                                   Josh Moodie 26*

Tom Halstead 17*

Dylan du Toit 15*

Progress made to the Lancashire Junior League Cup semi-final against a Clitheroe B team – their A team playing in the Ribblesdale League section of this county wide cup competition.

 LHCC U11 274 -3                                     Accrington 209-7

Josh Moodie 14                                          Thomas Halstead 2-2

Thomas Halstead 14                                   Sam Harrison 2-3

Rowan Greenwood 13

Sam Harrison 11*

A very solid performance to take the team to the cup final away at Ramsbottom on Monday.

Longridge u11 (B) 211-6                                               LHCC U11 Cubs 230 – 3

Emily Herbert 2-3                                                           Kheiro Chir 11*

George Irvine 10

A good victory in this second team game where the LHCC bowling was simply too good.

Enfield u11 231-4                                          LHCC U11 cubs 223-4

George Irvine 2-6                                            Aman Singh 10

Such is the promise of some of the LHCC juniors that 2 under 9s played against Enfield a team – with Aman Singh top scoring in this narrow defeat.

East Lancs u11 (B) 207- 7                                             LHCC u11 Koalas 244-1

Georgina Coates 2-4                                                   Georgina Coates 10*

Including a direct hit run out the 3rd teamers hit the wickets for all 7 east Lancs wickets. The team included 2 under 9s and an under 8 who were outstanding.

 LHCC U11 Koalas 225-5                                                          Bacup u11 (1) 254-3

Jack Simm 24

Always a tough ask for the 3rds to beat a first team.

Nelson 194 – all out                                                                  LHCC u9 258 – 3

Henri Cottam 3-5                                                            James Bridge 15*

Aman Singh 3-6                                                                Jack Spence 11*

James Bridge 2-0

Josh Butterworth 2-1

A very strong performance by the tiny tots. A welcome back to cricket for Jack Spence following his injury.

LHCC 9s 286-0                               Haslingden u9 220-6

Jack Spence 16*                               Oliver Spendlove 2-2

Aman Singh 15*

Anthony Barrett 12*

Unusually at any of the age groups but especially the under 9s – no wickets were lost by Lowerhouse.
