Lowerhouse Step 3 Update – The Government’s Roadmap out of Lockdown

We really all appreciate the current sacrifices you continue to make at the present time and thank you for the way you have supported the club throughout Step 2

This current period ‘Step 2’ has proved challenging!!, not least recently with the cold, wind and rain

Again I would like to make special mention and thanks to bar staff who have coped admirably throughout and also to the clubs players having to turn up ready, bring their own teas, go home un-showered etc. not ideal under any circumstances

The next step is due to commence on Monday 17th May and will bring a whole host of new challenges as spectators return and not least the anticipated re-opening of the club house (Note Match Day prices for admission to the ground will apply to non-members)

Inside the Clubhouse we anticipate that this will be similar to the current scenario and customer’s will be required to order, and drink while seated with a reduced capacity due to table’s being socially distanced with the rule of 6 applicable etc. Masks will have to be worn when visiting the toilets and Track & Trace requirements will remain in place

We are working on our internal capacity where we expect to be able to facilitate 80-100 seated on tables of 4, 5 or 6.

Our plan will be as follows:

1. Deliver table service internally ordering either by ‘hand’ or via the APP – tbc

2. Continue use the App to deliver table service externally, but only to our 25 picnic tables sited around the Club House

3. Explore a click and collect option for patrons around the ground or who may not be seated at one of these internal or external tables

It’s likely Members’ Prices and credits will have to be accessed when seated inside the club house facility, I’m afraid.

We fully expect to relax the No personal Alcohol request however this rule will still apply for access to the club house and also to our table service in terms of being seated at our picnic benches

Access to the Tea room should be available however again ‘masks must be worn inside and service will be take-away only

On top of our usual cricket activities Monday to Friday i.e. training and Junior games with senior games scheduled on every weekend, Step 3 also brings a whole host of sporting events in this period, not least:

Burnley v Liverpool 19th May 8.15pm

Sheffield Utd v Burnley 23rd May 4.00pm

The Champions League Final 29th May (*)

England v Austria 2nd June (Friendly) 8.00pm

England v Romania 6th June (Friendly) 5.00pm

Euro 2021 Commences 11th June

England v Croatia 13th June 2.00pm (*)

England v Scotland 18th June 8.00pm (*)

(*) I anticipate that for some of these events you having to book a table and pay a small deposit which would be returned as credit against your purchases

This period also sees the commencement of the JW Lees Lancashire League Twenty20 Competition

We anticipate the rules within the club will make it impractical for us to stage our usual Live Bands internally.

We have explored a number of available options but, with weather being a potential factor and the games finishing at 9.00pm, and we also feel the relationship we have with our neighbours is of more value than potentially running a ‘gig externally until late into the evening become impractical.

As such, it is with regret that that our first two Twenty20’s will now go ahead however there will be no Live Band

28/5/2011 versus Rishton & 11/6/2021 versus Accrington

Twenty20’s at the House are special events as hundreds, generally thousands of you come and spend an evening with your friends, family and workmates and we look forward to seeing you all again after so long

Our Bar staff will continue table service at this event for our customers seated indoors or at our 25 picnic tables

Our match DJ is raring to go and we are working hard with our Brewery partner JW Lees to ensure we maximise our capacity for delivering products to you as quickly and efficiently as possible as such weather permitting I expect to have 2 mobile cash bars up and running for all the Twenty20 games providing quick access to draught San Miguel, Manchester Craft, MPA & Dark Fruits we will compliment this with pint cans service of Stella, Dark Fruits & Fosters.

Once full information has been confirmed following next week’s expected finalised plans for Step 3 we will update you further

Our Final Twenty20 group match will be on 25th June

Friday 25 June 2021 versus Colne, SPARK DUO will be in Step 4 as such we anticipate this event to go ahead as originally planned

SPARK DUO – no strangers to the club and always a thrill to have them perform for us, Mark and Mike formerly of the Jam Restart playing their acoustic covers of almost anything asked for them. Amazing musicians and great quality for after the game

The Match is kindly sponsored by GK Electrical Services
