Maureen’s Monster Challenge
T20 Charity Cricket Match
For the Phil Astin Memorial Trophy
On the 27th October 2013 Ex Burnley/Lowerhouse and current Padiham cricketer’s Chris Swift & Phil Edmondson will be undertaking a 42.5 challenge in aid of Motor Neurone Disease cycling and running from Fleetwood to Burnley.
Chris and Phil have taken on this challenge to raise awareness and funds for the on-going research and care of sufferers of MND.
The driver behind their challenge is Mark Rendell who sadly lost his mother Maureen to the disease in September 2010.

To support Phil & Chris’s Challenge Lowerhouse CC agreed to host the charity game which will take place on Friday 23rd August 2013 @: The Neville Gee (Recruitment) ground from 5.30pm
The game is a one off 20/20 invitational game where many well know local cricketers’ past and present will don their kit in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Lowerhouse & Padiham’ s Professional’s Francois & Chris Holt will guest star and other confirmed players include from Lowerhouse: Legend Jez Hope, 1st x1 Manager Paul Stansfield & MD Matthew Stansfield , Ex professional Joe Scuderi, Burnley’s David Brown , Ben Law, Andy McLeod and a host of other well note local sportsmen.
The game will be supported by a Live DJ with, BBQ and Lowerhouse’s Bar & Tea Room will be open throughout.
After the match there will charity auction of sporting memorabilia and a live band “The Badger Set “ – They play music from the 60’s and include two original members of the legendary “Marren 5”
Lowerhouse Secretary Frank Entwistle said “Chris & Phil are well known at both clubs.
We are delighted to host this game and we hope they raise a tremendous amount for their chosen cause.
Having liaised over a number of week’s with Mark its fantastic to see his drive and ferocity in raising funds in memory of his mother Maureen.
It’s fantastic to see many ex and current cricketer’s taking time out of their busy lives to support this charity event

It’s fitting that they also play for the Phil Astin Memorial Trophy. Cricket was Phil’s life long passion and I’m sure that he would be pleased to know that this years Trophy game will raise awareness and hopefully a substantial sum of money for a worthy cause
