First up, we managed to grab some time with Georgie Holt. Ben Heap asked her some questions:

georgie

Firstly how old are you and how long have you been playing cricket?

I’m 15 and I’ve been playing cricket since I was 8.

Georgie, what are your key strengths?

I’m a Wicket-keeper / batter.

What are your aspirations as a cricketer and in terms of county teams what level/age group are you currently at?

I would like to play for Lancashire Women’s first team and hopefully push for a spot in the Lancashire Thunder team as a part of the new Kia Super League, then my ultimate aim would be to represent England.

I am currently at Under 17 level at County, and last year I made my debut for the Lancashire Women’s 1st team and played for the Lancashire Women’s 2nd Team. Also I have been selected for the Kia Super Leagues’ Lancashire Thunder Development Centre along side 14 other girls from the region aged 14-19.

What Women/Girls teams do you play for?

I play for Tottington St Johns women & Read CC girls.

As well as playing for women and girls teams, you also play boys cricket for Lowerhouse. What do you enjoy about playing boys cricket?

I like playing boys cricket because I feel that it improves my game and challenges me so when I come to play at my local women’s team I feel at an advantage because I’ve challenged myself.

We’ll be back tomorrow, with another interview featuring Liberty Heap
