No return for Ocki

Lowerhouse professional Ockert Erasmus has not been offered terms to return in 2020.

Ocki has has had a very successful 3 year stint with the club being part of the successful Lancashire Cup squad in 2017 and Worsley Cup Winning Squad in 2018.

Ocki started with a  hugely successful season in 2017 in which Ocki scored 1168 runs with a best of 104*, at an average of 64 and took 42 wickets at average of 18. That season culminated with a memorable trip to Emirates Old Trafford in the Lancashire Knock Out Cup Final.

In 2018, his season was cruelly cut short by injury. At the time of his injury, he was the leagues leading batsman with 717 runs from 13 innings at an average of 71.7 and a seasons best of 121. With the ball he had 26 wickets at an average of 13. The season concluded with House as Worsley Cup winners and League Runners up having lost only two league games all season.

The 2019 season has seen Ockert continue where he left off in 2018 with 545 runs at 41 and 24 wickets at 19’s.

Lowerhouse Managing Director Matthew Stansfield commented “This has been a very difficult decision to make as Ockert is the model professional.  Not only is he an excellent cricketer and consistent performer but he is also very popular around the club and is someone that we all consider to be a friend.  However, we felt that after three years the time was right to make a change”.

Everyone at Lowerhouse wishes Ockert and his family well for the remainder of this season and beyond!
