Ocki will be back in 2019…

Lowerhouse Cricket Club are very pleased to announce that they have an agreement with professional Ockert Erasmus for him to return in 2019.

Ockert, who suffered a season ending achilles injury in last weeks Twenty20 game against Church Cricket Club will return to Lowerhouse for a third season in 2019.

Managing Director Matthew Stansfield commented ” As we build up to an exciting weekend on the field, I am delighted that Ocki has agreed to return in 2019. He is an excellent club professional and the model of consistency. There was never any doubt that we wanted to re-engage Ocki and hopefully his injury is nothing more than a set back in what has been a fantastic 18 months with us.”

The injury has cut short what looked like being a record breaking season for Erasmus. At the time of his injury he was the leagues leading batsmen with 717 runs from 13 innings at an average of 71.7 and a seasons best of 121. With the ball he had 26 wickets at an average of 13.

Matthew further commented “Ockert is the type of character that will do all he can to regain full fitness and his rehab will begin in earnest as soon as the cast is removed. I am pleased that we are able to end a very difficult week for him personally with some great news for both him and the club”.

Everyone at Lowerhouse looks forward to seeing Ocki back on the field in 2019!
