Player Spotlight – An Interview with Lewis Marsden!

Another traveler today, this time its second team captain Lewis Marsden who is currently in Australia, we asked him a few questions;

Who are you playing for? ·

Not playing much cricket here in Perth due to work commitments unfortunately. I play basketball and beach volleyball competitively and cycle to keep moving through the English winter.

What do you miss about Lowerhouse and the Lancashire League?

I miss the smell of the changing rooms down the club, that and having the crack with the lads.

What do you miss about England?

Besides oddies pork and pepper rolls, I’m missing watching the niece and nephew grow up and my dog (Eric).

If you could change one thing about the club that you have learnt whilst you were away what would it be?

Apart from moving the club to Perth (WA) not much. Travelling through Western Australia and watching quite a few games of club cricket has highlighted how lucky we are at LHCC with the provisions we have available.

When are you back?

Who knows? My plans are to continue with my studies when I return and enrol in a masters course, but I haven’t set a date.

Anything else?

I’ve learnt a lot living away from home for the first time and having to fend for myself. I’d say my finest moment was breaking down two streets away from a young lady’s house I was taking out for the evening and having to push my car to her front door, and then round the corner to the petrol station. I’m not sure she was impressed but I tried to convince her it was part of my northern charm.

All in all I’m having a brilliant time in Australia, the experience has been invaluable and I’d recommend it to any of the young lads at the club wanting to try something new. Enjoy the cold and hopefully I’ll be hitting a few balls down the house this summer.
