Pre Season introduction and Weekend Teams

The pre-season friendlies at Woodbank and a home game against Padiham have been cancelled due to the weather but at the time of going to press, the friendly at Blackpool on Sunday is still on.

The club has seen a number of changes in personnel over the winter. Scott Hope has had to retire through injury and Corey Hope has retired through work commitments. Both have been excellent captains of respective teams and the club thanks them for their contribution to the club. Their contribution to the social side will continue!

Outgoings include the Bailey brothers who have transferred to Whalley; Matt Walker has joined Bradford and Bingley and will represent Cumberland this season in the minor counties.  Jonny Whitehead is the new professional at Woodbank.

Returning to the club are Ben Heap and Joe Hawke, and this is a very welcome boost.

Incomings involve 3 young players in their early 20’s who have connections to the club. Batsman  Owen Deakin – Pickard was a junior at the club and returns to us from Padiham . Quick bowler Jordan Page has joined us from Ramsbottom due to a friendship with a current LHCC player. Adam Hugill has been tracked for a couple of years and has joined us as travelling from here to his previous club proved too onerous.

The club will have 12 junior teams this season. 1 x u9, 3x u11, 4 x u13, 3 x u15 , 1 x u17 and will also run an u19 T20 team under captain Harry Halstead with John and Dave Nicholas managing the team. This is an exciting venture and the team will compete against local sides in the LCB group stages namely Clitheroe, Burnley, Read and Chorley. We will endeavour to pay the home games on a Friday night.

Cricket Chairman Stan Heaton said. “Despite the weather the players are eagerly awaiting the new season. Whilst we have lost some players, we have gained others and have a strong squad. The new professional Dieter Klein is a cracking lad with a great pedigree and this has enthused us too. The younger players in the first team and the second team have a year’s experience behind them and we have a wide base of promising youngsters from 14 upwards to play in the 3XI.”

Previous captain of the 3s, John Nicholas has stepped down for business reasons and a new captain will be announced shortly.

Managing Director Matthew Stansfield – “Could I take this opportunity to wish all our players a successful season and in anticipation thank our loyal supporters for their continued support. I sincerely believe that we can again compete in all competitions and give the member and the supporters the success that they deserve “
