Saturday Showers & Rivalry: Mixed Fortunes for Lowerhouse 3rd and 4th XI
Saturday brought a looming threat of thunderstorms and rain—but also a derby and a winning streak on the line—as Lowerhouse’s Third and Fourth Eleven took to the field.
Third Eleven – Turf Moor Derby Defeat
At Turf Moor, the Third Eleven faced local rivals Burnley in a rain-threatened clash. Winning the toss, House chose to bat and posted 132 for 6 from their full 40 overs, with Braiden Watson leading the way with a composed 39.
In reply, Burnley were set a revised target of 119 and managed to chase it down with 122 for 6 in 25.2 overs. Despite the result, there were notable performances with the ball as Jax Edwards, Taylor De Vries, and James McGregor each claimed 3 wickets.

Fourth Eleven – Third Win on the Bounce
Back home, the Fourth Eleven continued their fine form, making it three wins in a row with a hard-fought victory over Todmorden. The visitors batted first after winning the toss and were held to 123 for 9 in 38.4 overs. Joshua Nelson produced a standout bowling display, finishing with 6 for 24 from his 8 overs.
Set a revised target of 112, Lowerhouse edged over the line in a tense finish, reaching 113 for 8 in 25.5 overs. Oliver Roberts anchored the innings with a run-a-ball 29, supported by Sonny Whittaker‘s valuable 23.
