Second Eleven Match reports

The 2XI season has been an interesting one to say the least. Shorn of 12 players who have moved on to other things or other clubs, plus with  added injuries and other depletions, the team has often fielded players who in an ideal world would have had a season in the 3XI. Nonetheless despite some setbacks the team has begun to gel and find their feet. As can be seen below, some performances have been remarkable.

Lowerhouse 2XI 220-6                              Rishton 2XI – 221-8

Dec Bailey 72                                                Jack Moodie 2-31

Bradley Wright 58                                         Jamie Woodall 2-45

Scott Hope 48*                                              Scott Hope 2-65

A cup defeat at the hands of veteran Craig Smith whose 130 not out saw Rishton home in the dying overs. A maiden club 50 for Bradley Wright who joined the club from Greenmount in the close season.

LHCC 2XI – 221 all out                                            Bacup 2XI – 45 all out

Dominic Stuart 50*                                                  Dominic Stuart 7-18

Josh Lavin 46                                                           Alex Claridge – Ingham 2-17

Dec Stansfield 24

Harry Halstead 12

County u16 Dominic Stuart showing his obvious pedigree and Alex Claridge – Ingham showing well as a newcomer to the team

Todmorden 2XI 172 all out                Lowerhouse 2 XI 48 all out

Tom Bridge 5-35                                  Josh Lavin 18

Jamie Woodall 2-47

One of two successive games where the youngsters didn’t compete but well done to Tom Bridge (u16) on his senior 5 wickets

LHCC 2 XI 107 all out                        Burnley 2 XI 107 for 3

Harry Halstead 23                               Jamie Woodall 2-19

Josh Lavin 20

Will Norcross 17

Dec Stansfield 10

Colne 2XI 50 all out                          LHCC 2 XI 51 – 0

Jack Moodie 5- 17                               Bradley Wright 28*

Alex Claridge – Ingham 4-29              Joey Stein 23*

On the heels of 2 heavy defeats and with Dec Stansfield and Will Norcross in the first team, this match appeared a daunting venture. Lead by 16 year old captain Ben Uttley and with an oldest player aged 17 the victory was one of the most remarkable in many a year . Congratulations to u16 Jack Moodie on his senior 5 wickets and Alex Claridge Ingham (u17) so close. It is true to say that Nigel Brown and Stan Heaton were emotional after the game.

Lowerhouse 2XI 256 -6               Enfield 2X1 169 -9

Bradley Wright 125                                Jamie Woodall 3-41

Harry Halstead 36                                   Dec Stansfield 3-44

Will Norcross 24                                     Alex Claridge – Ingham 2-33

Dec Stansfield 22*

Josh Lavin 21

A truly magnificent knock from Bradley Wright with able support especially from Dec Stansfield. This, against a team with much first team experience, and ably led by veteran John Seedle who played the game in a great yet competitive spirit. Brown and Heaton still emotional.
