Stan wins another award!

Lowerhouse CC’s Stan Heaton has been recognised by the Lancashire Cricket Board for an Outstanding Service to Cricket Award (OSCA) for the Heartbeat of the Club category.At Lowerhouse CC, Stan has introduced and transformed an impressive junior section, linking into the senior section, which continues to have an impressive supporter base, with the club positioned at the heart of the community.

Stan has been instrumental in helping the club being awarded capital investment via ECB into the club’s practice facility, which has allowed them to continue to develop whilst focussing on being sustainable for many years.Stan has recently been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to Young People and Grassroots Cricket in Lancashire based on his dedication and commitment to the club. This in itself demonstrates the WOW factor and what he brings as a volunteer.He is also Chairman of the Lancashire League’s junior league and plays a key role in the Burnley Cricket Development Group and has actively been involved in the Borough District Cricket programme for many years.

The retired policeman was also recognised in 2009 at the LCB OSCAs, where he was awarded the Building Partnerships award for his dedication to work with many organisations for the betterment of the game.LCB Managing Director Bobby Denning commented:“The continued success of Lowerhouse CC, on and off the field, is down to Stan. It’s fair to say, if something needs doing, Stan will do it. He is Mr Lowerhouse CC!!”

As the Lancashire’s winner of Heartbeat of the Club category, Stan has now been nominated for the National OSCAs sponsored by NatWest. Should Stan be shortlisted for the National OSCAs, he will be invited to attend the ceremony held on October 4th at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
