Super Sunday!

Sunday was upon us like a flash and the barge boys gathered from 8am onwards with a pint and a bacon butty, ready for their onward voyage to Burnley. In usual fashion, the barge bar was sold out of ale 10 minutes in but the fans were otherwise occupied playing chase the ace (which I must say, was the first double doo ever on a boat). Mark Whitehead did a sterling job with the organisation, the pre match trip went down a storm. (Watch this space for trips to other grounds – Train? Plane? Cycling? Wheelbarrow race?)

Onto the cricket – The first team won the big Burnley derby by 65 runs. We made 198-9 with Jack Edgar hitting his maiden league half century playing some great cover drives and looking comfortable  He got 74, adding 108 with Joe Martin.  Hawkey got 26 and Frankie 17. Fergus came in with 1 ball to go and smashed a straight six showing we really do bat down to number 11!

Burnley were 7/3 after 10 overs and 23/5 at one point. They put up little resistance until Cole Hayman came in, but we’re bowled out for 133. Ferg with a 5er and Frankie with 3.

We managed to get back (luckily not by barge!) in time to see the second team pick up 12 points too with some unreal lower order batting by Oli Bailiff and CJ Hope.

Thanks to the people who made yesterday possible and onwards and upwards!
