T20 Defeat Followed By Double Derby Delight

Friday night saw House bow out of the T20 competition despite still having  a game to play after defeat at Todmorden.

Qaiser Abbas hit 70  as the home side made 157-6. Francois was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-22. In reply we were restricted to 124-9 as the Todmorden bowlers shared the wickets around.  The notable contributions with the bat came from Last pair Fergus Bailey (27 not out) and Joe Martin (20 not out) in an unbroken stand of 33. On Saturday it was the first of the triple header derby games and Lowerhouse ran out comfortable winners by 67 runs.  Hassan Khan made a determined half century, hitting three fours and a six from 99 balls faced as he made 51 on his return to Lowerhouse. Chris Bleazard made 35 including some lusty late blows and skipper Charlie Cottam was unbeaten on 19 as we posted 165-8. Burnley pro Imad Wasim picked up 4-45 for Burnley. In reply Jon Finch took a seasons best 7-31 to bowl Burnley out for 98.  Burnley professional Imad Wasim made 25 and openers Chris Burton and former Lowerhosue player Qasim Ali 13 apiece.Scorecard

On Sunday it was more of the same with Jon Finch again the pick of the bowlers taking 5-17 as Burnley were dismissed for 75  chasing our 173-7. Professional Francios Haasbroek top scored with 65, including six fours and two sixes whilst Finch also made 38, Hassan Khan 19 and skipper Charlie Cottam an unbeaten 20. Former House player James Capstick took 3-58 for Burnley. Francois then accounted for the the Burnley top three, sending back Qasim Ali (10), Chris Burton (21) and Burnley pro Imad Wasim (14) as 51-2 became 75 all out. Scorecard
