Weekend Preview & Teams 14th & 15th June 08

The weekend gets underway with a 20/20 bonanza at the club on Friday Night.  Our local derby against Burnley will be followed by live music in the bar from local band “Full English” .   England V New Zealand 20/20 will be shown on the screens in the bar and there will be full tea room facilities and an additional Barbecue available. Entry to the game is priced at £2 adults and £1 concessions.

It’s back to back league games against Enfield on Saturday  (Home) and Sunday (Away) as new skipper Charlie Cottam looks to stear the lads away from the foot of the table.

Enfield have had a mixed start to the season winning 3 and losing 3 as they sit in 6th place.  Enfield professional at the moment is young New Zealand all rounder Brandon Hiini. Hiini returned for a second spell at Dill Hall Lane having last season picked up 52 wickets at 16.7 with his right arm medium fast bowling. With the bat he scored 458 runs at 24.1. Sadly for Enfield Hiini is soon to leave these shores as he travels to Queensland to represent New Zealand in an emerging players tournament. He will be replaced by Zimbabwean Gary Brent.

On the Amateur front Enfield are much different to last season having lost the services of the retired Bernard Reidy and his son Sam who has chosen to return to Walkden. Bernard Reidy secured 56 wickets last season and is sure to leave a hole in the Enfield bowling attack as he pursues a career in umpiring.  Batting wise Craig Fergusson is leading the way this season with 125 runs at 20.83 including a seasons best of 71.  Leading bowler is Keith Barker who’s 19 wickets at 12.52 have seen him recommended for a Trial at County side Warwickshire.
