Weekend Roundup: 6 out of 7!

The jam packed weekend of 7 senior games started on Friday night as Lowerhouse took on Accrington in a must win Twenty20 game. Accrington won the toss and chose to field. Frankie and Jonny got off to a flyer with House looking good at 56 for 0 off 6 overs. We managed to get to 168 for 6 off our 20 with Jonny Whitehead getting 52 in a welcome return to form, Frankie 35, Ben 25 and Ocki 22. Some really tight bowling and excellent fielding saw Accrington bowled out for 86 off 16.2 overs. Toxy and Ocki got 3 wickets a piece. House go to second in the table, with 1 to play. Saturday saw a replay of the Second Team Telegraph Cup (now JW Lees League Cup!) game against Todmorden. Tod won the toss and chose to field. Thanks to a brilliant 96 from Jon Finch, the team got to 220 with another half century from Lewis Marsden. House bowled Tod out for 103, after a great opening spell from Dom and Jesse, Declan Stansfield wrapped up the tail with another 4 wickets. Full scorecard here

The Third team played away at Rawtenstall, captained by Ben Heap, the first game where father and daughter (Liberty) played together for Lowerhouse. Rawtenstall were bowled out for 131 in 31 overs with wickets shared. House knocked them off in 30.1 overs, 3 down, with Charlie Bithell scoring 45 and Anthony Barrett with 35 not out. The Fourth team visited Norden and won in a great fashion, after Norden won the toss and elected to bat. They scored 168 for 6 off their 40 overs. Jack Spence took 4 for 19 off 6 overs. Youngesters Henri Cottam (85) and Tom Yorke – Robinson (55) knocked them off with the House 4 down off 37 overs. Full scorecard here

On Sunday the First team beat Clitheroe at Chatburn Road after winning the toss and batting. In a match that saw Jonny Whiteheads 3000th league run and Joe Martins 250th league catch, House made 212 for 4 off their 50 overs. Half centuries for the top 3, Ben, Jonny and Dean made for a steady innings. House bowled out Clitheroe in the 49th over, who couldn’t build partnerships at key times. The Second team carried on their tremendous form beating Bacup comprehensively at the Brooks. House bowled them out for 57 with 9 of the wickets being clean bowled Joe Halstead took 6 wickets with Dom Stuart taking 4. House knocked the runs off 2 down off just over 10 overs. Full scorecard here

In a friendly against Pendle Forest, the Fourth team came second, We got 118 for 9 off 35 and they were 119-9. Good game against all adults apart from 1.
