Firsts lose as Fourth team march on

The club was bathed in glorious sunshine on Saturday as the Ron Singleton Trophy got underway at the Brooks Foundation Ground. Walsden won the toss and elected to bat on what I must say looked a glorious track, prepared by Stan.

Walsden made 261 for 7 from their 50 overs with some good knocks from their opener and pro and some big hitting later on in the innings.

We were bowled out for 169 with Ocki making a half century, Walsden made the Ron Singleton Trophy theirs.

Phil Metcalfes Fourth Team however continued their good early form making 2 wins from 2 games. They beat Haslingden Third team who won the toss, batted first and were bowled out for 94.  With seven different bowlers, the wickets were shared.

Tom Yorke-Robinson made an unbeaten half century in reply as we knocked them off in just 19.2 overs with four wickets down.
