Friday night saw the First team victorious in their latest Twenty20 game beating Great Harwood. They batted first and got off to a good start with some tight bowling from Paddy reigning them back in. They finished on 144 for 3, Ocki taking 2 wickets and Frankie 1. In response Frankie continued his great start with the bat, finishing 89 not out and the House romping home with 5 overs and a ball to go.

Saturday saw a strange day of weather in which the First team win in the Quarter Finals of the Worlsey cup and the same downpour that took the firsts off for a while, flooded the home ground, causing the Third team game to be abandoned (more on that here). The first team beat Norden away, to secure a home semi final on 8th July versus Crompton. Lancashireleague.com’s match report of Saturday was:

Lowerhouse set up the possibility of a mouth watering final with Burnley by winning at Norden by 4 wickets. Norden were restricted to 113-5 from 40 overs. Wicketkeeper Lee Crabtree hit an unbeaten 34 and Harvey Fitton 32 with Joe Hawke taking 2-25 from his 10 over spell for Lowerhouse. Chasing a revised target of 151 from 40 overs, Francois Haasbroek top scored with 59 from 103 balls to help the visitors to victory in the 39th over. Charlie Cottam also hit an unbeaten 27 and Ben Uttley 23 with Chris Humphreys taking 4-17 for Norden.

A win for both the First and Second Elevens rounded off a great weekend on Sunday versus East Lancs. LancashireLeague.com’s match report for Sunday said:

Lowerhouse beat East Lancs at The Brooks Foundation Ground. Half centuries from professional Ockert Erasmus (51 from 61 balls, passing 6,000 Lancashire League runs) and Paddy Martin (50 not out from 68 balls) helped Lowerhouse to 239-7. Skipper Ben Heap also hit 46, Charlie Cottam 21 and Chris Bleazard 15 with Joe Bolton taking 3-55 for East Lancs. Francois Haasbroek took 6-23 and Erasmus 3-29 to dismiss East Lancs for 103. Paul Turner made 27 and professional Eddie Read 15
