Ben Heap 152 and and Ollie Williams 5fer combine to secure Littleborough double.

At the Brooks’ the first eleven won the toss and elected to bat, skipper Ben Heap and Henri Cottam set Lowerhouse up, putting on 147 for the first wicket. The score kept rising at a rapid rate as Lowerhouse put on 337/6 off their 50 overs, Ben Heap scoring his sixth Lancashire league century with 152, followed by his opening partner Henri Cottam scoring 51. Charlie Gansler scored an important quick fire 36 at the back end of the innings as Dan Salpietro and Francois Haasbroek both closed off the innings scoring quickly with 26 and 36 not out respectively.

Littleborough were restricted to 296 all out, losing by 41 runs, and it was the highest scoring Lowerhouse game in Lancashire League history. Another record was their pro, Bryce Parsons, scoring the highest ever Lancashire League total against Lowerhouse with his 172. However it wasnt enough to stop a fierce Lowerhouse attack Lead by Dan Salpietro’s 4-46 from 13 overs. Charlie Gansler and Francois Haasbroek both took 2 wickets a piece and Paddy Martin took 1 wicket aswell as Toxy Hussain taking 1 to secure 12 points for Lowerhouse.

Dec Stansfield’s second eleven travelled to Hare Hill to take on Littleborough. And they got off to a fantastic start with the ball, 2 fantastic opening spells from Yanis Chir and Ollie Williams saw Littleborough reduced to 35-6 after 14 overs. Only 3 more wickets fell between then and the end of the innings but the runs didnt increase at a rapid rate, seeing Littleborough 122- 9 after 45 overs, Ollie Williams leading the bowling attack with 5-27 from 11 overs well backed up by Yanis Chir taking 4-46 from 12 overs.

Lowerhouse required 123 to win in the chase, which was lead by Joel Sharpe scoring a proactive 48, well supported by Will Norcross’s 11. However a couple of wickets fell and it got tense, until Danny Simm and Sonny Whittaker saw the 2’s home in a spirited fashion with 3 wickets in the tank, scoring 8 and 4 not out respectively. Securing 10 vital points in the title hunt.
