Third Eleven Edge Thriller at Enfield as Clarke Carries His Bat
The Third Eleven travelled to Enfield and, after winning the toss, elected to bat first.
Lowerhouse were bowled out for 110 in 34.4 overs, but Lewis Clarke produced a superb innings to carry his bat through the entire innings, finishing unbeaten on 67 after facing the very first delivery of the match. It was a determined knock that proved to be the difference in a low-scoring contest.
Enfield’s reply was just as hard fought, but Lowerhouse held their nerve to bowl the hosts out for 93 in 34.3 overs and secure a 17-run victory.
Josh Nelson led the bowling attack with excellent figures of 3-15 from eight overs, while Joe Clark claimed 2-19 from his eight-over spell in a gripping encounter.
Fourth Eleven Hold Their Nerve in Dramatic Victory Over Church
The Fourth Eleven produced a dramatic finish to overcome Church at Lowerhouse after a tense run chase.
Church batted first and posted 201-8 from their 40 overs. William Fallows was the standout bowler, taking 4-33 from seven overs.
In reply, Lowerhouse looked to be cruising at 135-2 with 12 overs remaining before a sudden collapse left the game hanging in the balance. With eight runs still required from the final three overs and only three wickets in hand, the match could have gone either way.
Abdullah Rafeeq Ahmed laid the platform with an excellent 59, while Seth Finch added 57 in the top order. Shahbaz Mukhtar then swung the momentum back Lowerhouse’s way with a quickfire 35.
The game went down to the final over with four runs still needed, but William Fallows held his nerve to guide Lowerhouse home with two balls to spare. He finished unbeaten on 26 as Lowerhouse reached 205-7 to complete a memorable three-wicket victory.
