Devastating News – Obituaries

Lowerhouse Cricket Club are deeply saddened to inform members of the devastating passing of Claire Halstead.

Claire passed away suddenly over the weekend.

Claire has been connected to the club since being a small child in the early 1970s when mum Maureen and late dad Peter Scaife came to the town and joined Lowerhouse CC.

Since that time Claire and husband Paul have continued to support the club through sons, Harry and Thomas playing for the seconds. The Halstead family are synonymous with the club.

Generous hearted and with a bouncy personality Claire’s sense of humour and mickey taking made Claire enormously popular not just at the cricket club but throughout the town. To say that she will be missed is an understatement.

We extend our heartfelt and deepest sympathies to mum Maureen, Husband Paul, sons Harry and Thomas , brothers Paul and Mark and the wider Halstead family.

Funeral details will be notified in due course.

Sadly we have to report two further losses.

Mick Fitzpatrick passed away last week. Mick, a popular member was a conscientius supporter attending matches and supporting all fund raising activities for at least the 50 years I have known him . A keen walker and local resident Mick was an enthusiastic cricket afficianado and a sincere club supporter. We extend our deepest sympathy to wife Jean, children and grandchildren.

Micks funeral will take place at Burnley Crematorium 10am Wednesday February 15th followed by a reception at the club.

Also passing suddenly was Mick Haworth after a fall. Another popular member Mick was a good pal to many as exemplified by the huge gathering at Mick’s funeral. Many supporters  attended the funeral and the reception afterwards. The club were represented and we were able to pass on our condolences to wife Denise.
