Fourth Eleven Defeat Ramsbottom Women First Eleven
The Fourth Eleven welcomed Ramsbottom Women First Eleven to Lowerhouse on a day of persistent light rain, the first wet match for what feels like an eternity.
After being asked to bowl, Lowerhouse restricted Ramsbottom to 195 for 7 from their 40 overs. Josh Lord was the standout bowler, returning impressive figures of 3 for 18 from 8 overs. Maeve Jones anchored the Ramsbottom innings superbly, finishing unbeaten on 101 from 127 deliveries.
In reply, Lowerhouse produced an excellent batting display to reach their target with six overs to spare, finishing on 196 for 4 in just 33.4 overs.
Arthur Needham led the way with a fine 68, before Dave Krupinski rolled back the years with an unbeaten 64. Abdullah Rafeeq Ahemed also made a valuable contribution with 38 as Lowerhouse secured a comfortable six-wicket victory.
Third Eleven Earn Four Points at Littleborough
The Third Eleven travelled to Littleborough and, despite defeat, returned home with four valuable league points.
After losing the toss, Lowerhouse were sent into the field as Littleborough posted 179 for 9 from their 40 overs. Oliver Roberts was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 16 from 8 overs, while Joshua Nelson claimed 3 for 36 from 8 overs. Hammad Aurangzeb also chipped in with 2 for 38 from 5 overs.
Chasing 180 for victory, Lowerhouse finished on 166 for 7 from their 40 overs. Joe Clark continued his excellent form with a superb 97 from 117 deliveries, narrowly missing out on a deserved century. Josh Brennand remained unbeaten on 37, but the visitors ultimately fell 13 runs short.
