House sign England Selector

Secretary Frank Entwistle revealed Lowerhouse CC CIC Ltd pulled off yet another coup earlier this week

England Chief Selector Geoff Miller has been confirmed as our Guest Speaker at the Lowerhouse Cricket Club Sportsman Dinner 2014.

The event will take place on Friday 2nd May 2014 at the clubhouse, comedian to be advised in the near future along with ticket price

The cricket writer, Colin Bateman, noted, “Geoff Miller concedes that he probably enjoyed cricket too much. He did not take it as seriously as some, and when it became a rigorous, grim-faced business, he was not sorry to bow out of an eight-year Test career that never reached the peaks many expected”.

Likewise Simon Hughes referred to Miller in 1990 as being “the only remaining player who unfailingly visited the opposing team’s dressing room after play to thank them for the game…[and] the last man to field at slip with a whoopee cushion up his jumper
Geoff previously served on the National Selector Panel under predecessor David Graveney since 2000 and was appointed to lead the panel in January 2008 by the England & Wales Cricket Board
Frank said “It’s taken some time to bring together but as always our man Tony Woodworth continues to deliver high quality signings. It’s another must see event following on from last year’s dinner with Jan Molby and our evening with Merv Hughes in the summer.
