Liberty makes the Thunder RDC Programme

Lowerhouse Junior Liberty Heap has made it into the Lancashire Thunder RDC Programme for 2019!

Step dad Ben Heap said:

“This is Liberty’s second year on the Thunder RDC program and last year she came up against lots of girls who are now on the England women’s academy. Still only a under 15 herself she looks to have a bright future in the game as long as she continues to work hard and develop.
Last year she was loaned out to get some senior experience at Ribblesdale League club Read but hopes to force her way into the senior sides at Lowerhouse this year.”

Well done Liberty from everyone at the club.

Lancashire Cricket Club posted on their website:

13 players from across the North West have been selected to take part in the Lancashire Thunder Regional Development Centre (RDC) this winter.

The RDC winter programme has been underway in the Trafford Cricket Centre at Emirates Old Trafford since before Christmas.

The players will then move into a summer match programme, which includes a four-day festival against other RDC’s from around the country.

The purpose of the Regional Development Centre is to identify, develop and prepare players for the next level of the Pathway by giving them individualised and localised programmes of support across eight centres in England.

Lancashire is one of the eight centres which will look to provide enjoyment, support to individual players, relevant experience and create learning environments for players to take into club and county cricket, as they progress through the pathway.

Following a trial process the 13 players were selected, with representatives from Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales – with 11 players from Lancashire Cricket Club selected onto the programme.

Head Coach Jen Barden (ECB Level 4 Women and Girls Manager) leads on the programme alongside Danny Gilbert (pace bowling coach), Arran Brindle (batting coach) and Christina Carr (strength and conditioning coach).

They are joined on the coaching staff by the ex-Lancashire duo of Gary Keedy (spin bowling coach) and Warren Hegg (wicket keeping coach).
