A Date for Your Diaries
Sunday 26th July 2026
Burnley Cricket Club v Lowerhouse Cricket Club
Plans are in place for this fixture to act as a celebration of Nick’s life, with further details to follow. All are welcome.
On the Field
Nick was a tough and uncompromising competitor. He showcased his ability as a goalkeeper for Burnley GSOB on Saturdays and for the Pike Hill Bombers on Sundays, before turning his attention to cricket as an opening bowler for Burnley GSOB.
A talented and accurate medium-pace bowler, Nick possessed great stamina and was often asked to bowl from one end for the duration of an innings. He was also more than capable with the bat, contributing valuable runs down the order.
Remembering Nick
Although he had been less prominent on the social scene in recent years, Nick will not be forgotten by his many friends and sporting colleagues. His gruff sense of humour, combined with countless stories and incidents, made him a hugely popular figure.
The upcoming events will also provide an opportunity for a reunion among Nick’s friends and former footballing and cricketing teammates from Burnley Grammar School Old Boys, Burnley Cricket Club, Lowerhouse Cricket Club, and Pike Hill Bombers.
