Salpietro’s Historic 178* Inspires Huge Lowerhouse Victory

First Eleven Rewrite the Record Books at Enfield

Lowerhouse made the trip to Enfield determined to put last weekend behind them and did so in spectacular fashion, producing one of the greatest batting displays in the club’s history.

Batting first, Lowerhouse piled up an incredible 393 for 5, the second-highest total ever recorded by the club. Leading the way was professional Daniel Salpietro, who produced a breathtaking unbeaten 178, the highest score ever by a Lowerhouse professional.

He was well supported throughout the innings by Jonny Whitehead (77), Tom Walker (44) and Ben Heap (31) as the visitors dominated from start to finish.

Enfield faced a near-impossible chase and their task became even harder early on. After 10 overs they were 54 for 3, with their professional already back in the pavilion following a calamitous run out.

The hosts briefly recovered to 115 for 4 before Lowerhouse’s bowlers took complete control. Paddy Martin claimed an outstanding 5 for 50, while Tom Walker returned 2 for 57 and Shaukat Ali finished with 2 for 15 as Enfield collapsed to 125 all out.

The emphatic victory by 268 runs set a new club record for Lowerhouse’s biggest ever winning margin, surpassing last season’s 251-run victory over Norden.

The result secured a valuable 12 points and saw Lowerhouse get themselves firmly back on track.

Second Eleven Chase Down Rochdale Total with Ease

The Second Eleven enjoyed another successful afternoon at The Brooks Foundation Ground as they comfortably defeated Rochdale.

Rochdale were restricted to 173 for 9 from their 45 overs thanks to disciplined bowling from the Lowerhouse attack. Declan Stansfield led the way with 3 for 35, while Oliver Williams picked up 2 for 37.

Lowerhouse made light work of the chase, reaching their target in just 25 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Joel Sharpe top scored with 59, while Chris Bleazard added an impressive 45 as the hosts completed another convincing victory.
