Stan gets life…

Not in prison – why would you think that?

Stan Heaton has been elected as Life Member of the Lancashire League. LancashireLeague.com said:

Stan Heaton and Duncan Warburton were elected Life Members at the Lancashire League AGM at the Higher Trapp.

Lancashire League Chairman Mike Bibby said: “Normally, Life Membership is awarded to someone who has recently retired, after exceptional service to the League. Both Stan Heaton and Duncan Warburton are still more than active and I cannot think of any two people more deserving of this honour.

“Stan Heaton is, of course, Chairman of the Lancashire Junior Cricket League as well filling various roles at his own club, Lowerhouse.

“Stan has overseen the growth of Junior League cricket and, as a result, the League is probably, the biggest within the County.

“Indeed many clubs from other leagues have been welcomed in helping to form leagues at all age levels.

“Stan, is Chairman of Lowerhouse Cricket Club and also oversees the Junior section at his own club together with District Cricket in the area.

“Despite all the above, he also finds time to be Groundsman at Lowerhouse.

“Duncan Warburton is the Secretary of the JW Lees Lancashire Cricket League as well as being well known as one of the most respected Umpires at League and higher levels in the Country.

“Duncan has been responsible for much of the administration duties in running the League since his appointment in 2006.

“This involved most duties other than that of the Treasurer and has been chiefly responsible for the League running so smoothly.

“It was only during the past couple of years that, as the League began to expand, some of his heavy workload has been delegated to others.

“Both Stan and Duncan’s commitment to League and Club cricket were recognised at Old Trafford by deservedly winning Oscars’.
